As an owner, it is your responsibility to ensure that your captained booking has a captain ready for the departure time.
For GEICO BoatUS bookings
For bookings under our GEICO BoatUS insurance policy, captains must be paid through the Boatsetter platform and must be selected from the Boatsetter Captain Network. Please make sure your captain preferences are set correctly and disqualify any captains you do not want operating your boat. The renter will select a captain from the list. If no captains are available, please reach out to our support team for assistance at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note, there is no guarantee that Boatsetter Support will be able to secure a captain.
For commercial bookings
Owners under their own commercial insurance policy can either choose to use the Boatsetter Captain Network or provide a list of captains for the renter to select from. You can choose to either have the captain be paid directly at the dock or via Boatsetter.
If collecting at the dock, captain fees must be paid off the Boatsetter platform, either in cash, a mobile payment platform, or a payment processor. It is the owner’s responsibility to inform the renter of this additional charge at the time of booking. To learn more about captain settings, please click here.
