Vetting renters

All renters must have a verified Boatsetter account in order to message an owner or book a boat.

In addition, boat owners can set their own qualifications to verify a renter’s experience. We ask that you outline the required licenses or boat operating experience in your listing description and during your conversations with the renter. You may also request a sea trial with the renter to make sure both parties are comfortable. The boat owner has full control over who rents their boat.

As an owner, it is your responsibility to ensure that the renter has the correct licenses to operate your boat. If the renter books your boat and they do not have the correct qualifications, the renter will be allowed to cancel their booking with a full refund at any time.

If the renter lies about their qualifications and is found to not have the correct licenses at the start of the booking, the owner will be due their payout and the renter will not receive a refund. This outcome will be decided by a Boatsetter agent.
