Security deposit

For all bookings, a security deposit is held on the renter’s card to cover any incidental damage or lost items. 

Boats under GEICO BoatUS insurance policy

A $500 security deposit hold will be placed on the renter’s credit card. Renters are liable for up to $7,500 in damages, including their $500 security deposit. All damage deposits are held until the investigation of damage is complete. In order to file a claim, you must have completed the check-in and check-out forms to verify the boat’s condition and detail any damages that took place during the booking. 

Boats under owner’s commercial insurance policy 

A $500 security deposit hold will be placed on the renter’s credit card. All damage deposits are held until the investigation of damage is complete. In order to file a claim, it is important to have completed the check-in and check-out inspection forms. Next, email claims@boatsetter.com with relevant photo/video evidence to verify the boat’s condition and detail any damages that took place during the booking. 

Owners under their own commercial insurance policy may request to change the value of the security deposit by emailing us at contact@boatsetter.com.

Please note: For commercial owners, Boatsetter may only charge the renter the agreed-upon security deposit. Any additional funds for repairs must be organized offsite between the owner and renter directly.
