In certain states, Boatsetter collects and remits sales tax for charters on behalf of owners. Boatsetter is only required to charge sales tax in states in which we are physically present. As of now, we are only physically present in two states (Florida and Washington).
Boatsetter calculates the applicable sales tax and collects those taxes from the renter at the time the boat is booked. Boatsetter then takes care of remitting collected taxes to the applicable authority.
If you are unsure whether Boatsetter is collecting sales tax in your state, please email Boatsetter Support at email@example.com.
As an owner, you are responsible for reporting your earnings to the IRS for income tax purposes.
