In certain states, Boatsetter collects and remits sales tax from renters on behalf of owners. Boatsetter is only required to charge sales tax in states in which we are physically present. Currently, Boatsetter collects sales tax in the following states: Florida, Washington, Texas, and Minnesota.

Boatsetter calculates the applicable sales tax and collects those taxes from the renter at the time the vessel is booked. Boatsetter then takes care of remitting collected taxes to the applicable authority.

As an owner, you are responsible for [reporting your earnings](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/tax-filing-information-rkff5cL_Je) to the IRS for income tax purposes.
