All Boatsetter payouts are completed via direct deposit, powered by Stripe. As a captain, the renter will pay Boatsetter and we will transfer the funds to your account. Your payout is determined based on the length of the vessel (see below).

## **Setting up direct deposit**

You must complete the following steps before you can receive payouts through Boatsetter:

*   Add your bank account information by clicking "**[Payout preferences](https://www.boatsetter.com/account/bank_accounts)**" on your Captain Dashboard. If you do not currently have a bank account to manage your self-employed earnings, we recommend you [check out our partner Found](https://found.com/boatsetter?utm_medium=growth_partnership&utm_source=boatsetter). Found is an all-in-one banking, bookkeeping, and tax solution. Boatsetter captains can earn a $100 bonus when they deposit $1,000 in earnings from Boatsetter into their Found account. Once you've received $1,000 of earnings into Found within 60 days of account creation, you'll receive $100 from us. Offer expires 12/31/25. _Found is a fintech, not a bank. *   Fill out your tax information by clicking "**[Tax forms](https://www.boatsetter.com/account/user_tax_forms)**" on your Captain Dashboard.
*   Send a **clear, color picture of your photo ID to Boatsetter Support via our** [**Contact Form**](https://boatsetter.kustomer.help/contact/contact-us-rybdP8n5i). Validating your identity is required by the IRS to receive payment.

_Note: Stripe does not accept PO Boxes as a valid form of address on the tax form. For your payout account to be fully verified, please provide a residential address._

## **The payout timeline**

Payments are processed 2-3 business days after the booking concludes and will be deposited directly into the bank account on file. Trips on weekends or holidays may take longer to process. You will be notified via email once your payout has been processed. Your bank may take up to 24 hours to review the payment before crediting your account.

## **Payout processing fees**

All payouts will deduct Stripe’s processing fee from the total amount. Stripe deducts $0.15 for commission payouts. For post-booking fees (like fuel, cleaning, and damages), the current processing fee is 3.0% + $0.15 per transaction. 

## **Captain payout rates**

**Vessel Length: 0 - 29 feet:**

*   $60/hour

**Vessel Length: 30 - 49 feet:**

*   $70/hour

**Vessel Length: 50 feet+:**
