If you would like to ask an owner questions before submitting a [booking request](https://support.boatsetter.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412819791373-How-to-pay) and entering payment information, you can send a message through the Boatsetter messaging platform. You must have a [verified account](https://support.boatsetter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003661906-Account-verification) to do so. Entering payment information is not required to message an owner. Messages are a great way to learn if a vessel is a good fit for you.

## **Sending a message**

To send a message, navigate to the **boat listing page and scroll down until you see the owner’s profile under “Your crew”. Click “Message Owner” on the right-hand side**.![](https://cdn.kustomerhostedcontent.com/media/63b5c8a85a141f76a9688e43/fff4766d83dede4c6fa74afa74652064.png)

You will be prompted to fill out details regarding your [inquiry](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/booking-states-rJrWUJs3o), along with a message to the owner with information about your desired booking details.

## **Receiving a message**

When you receive a new message, you will see a notification alert on the “Messages” tab within the site navigation bar. Click **“**Messages” to view your conversations. Based on your notification preferences, you may receive additional SMS and email alerts regarding new and unread messages.
