To access your Captain Dashboard, log in to your Boatsetter account on a desktop/laptop device (or [mobile web](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/is-there-a-boatsetter-captains-app-SyPJTastJl)) since the Boatsetter Owners app is not yet built for the captain side of the platform.

## **Favoriting specific vessels**

After you [create a captain profile](https://support.boatsetter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005653146-How-to-become-a-captain), there are a couple of ways to get assigned to a vessel:

* Navigate to your [**Captain Dashboard**](https://www.boatsetter.com/captain) **> Job settings > Matches > Add boats**. Look at the search results for vessels in your area. If a vessel is accepting new captains, it will have a “Become Captain” button that you can click to be assigned to that vessel.
* Owners can also “Favorite” you as a captain. This associates you with their vessel as a suggestion for renters, who determine who operates the vessel.

## **Navigating the Captain Dashboard**

Your Captain Dashboard is home to everything relevant to your captain profile, bookings, availability, license details, payments, and job settings.

If you'd like to view your messages and reply to any inquiries, you can do so by clicking the “**Messages**” tab in your navigation bar. If you’d like to view your approved bookings, you can do so by clicking the “**Bookings**” tab. Be sure to filter by “**As Captain**” if needed.

Once you [accept a booking](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/how-to-accept-a-booking-as-a-captain-HkqNK12iT), you will be able to access the renter’s contact information, in addition to the owner’s information and important documents, by navigating to **Bookings >** **View booking details >** [**Onboard Document**](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/locating-your-onboard-document-SygfIyshi)**.**

## **Updating your availability**

Keeping your calendar up to date ensures you are only assigned to potential charters you are available to captain. To access your calendar and update your availability, navigate to your **Captain Dashboard > Job settings > Calendar**.

To learn more about the calendar features, click [here](https://support.boatsetter.com/hc/en-us/articles/200610505-Updating-your-calendar).

## **Adjusting job settings**

You can also set [preferences](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/how-to-edit-your-captain-account-Skx5m8yohi) for the specific vessels you want to be assigned to (e.g. length, type, distance traveled) or you may select specific vessels to captain:

* Adjust your preferences for the vessels you would like to captain. You will only appear as a captain option for vessels that meet your preferences.
* Navigate to your **Captain dashboard > Job settings > Settings**.

## **Make a compelling profile**

To edit your profile, navigate to your ****Captain dashboard > Captain information****. Write a little bit about yourself and your boating experience. This is a good way to show off your personality! Don't forget to add a profile picture too.

## **Approve / Decline booking requests promptly**

It's important to [respond](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/how-to-accept-a-booking-as-a-captain-HkqNK12iT) to booking requests as soon as you can. This helps provide a better experience for the renter and yourself. Feel free to ask any questions before making a decision.
