All Boatsetter captains are independent contractors with the ability to approve or decline booking requests. As a captain, you will set your own [calendar availability](https://support.boatsetter.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005653006-Editing-your-account) and you can work as much or as little as you would like.

You’ll need to add your [U.S Coast Guard credentials](https://www.boatsetter.com/captains/new) directly to your Boatsetter account to get started.

## **Required information**

To create a captain’s profile, you will need to have the following:

*   A [verified](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/account-verification-ByR7IJshi) Boatsetter account
* Your valid U.S. Coast Guard reference number
* Navigate to [https://www.boatsetter.com/captains/new](https://www.boatsetter.com/captains/new) to begin the sign-up process

Please make sure your USCG credentials match your Boatsetter account for a smooth verification process. If your reference number cannot be verified, please email a photo of your credentials through our [Contact Form](https://boatsetter.kustomer.help/contact/contact-us-rybdP8n5i) for further assistance.
