Owners are welcome to use their own commercial insurance policy and opt out of [Buoy's Peer-to-Peer Insurance Policy](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/buoy-peer-to-peer-insurance-HJJP3Pobll).

## **Commercial insurance requirements**

If you are operating under your own commercial charter insurance, you are required to:

* Provide proof of coverage to Boatsetter upon request in order to approve or update your listing
* Meet minimum state commercial insurance requirements
* Meet minimum USCG commercial insurance requirements
* Follow local rules and regulations specific to your area of operation

If your commercial charter insurance does not have the required coverage minimums, you may update the policy to meet requirements and provide the new declarations page or utilize Buoy’s Peer-to-Peer Insurance Policy.

## **Using contracts outside of Boatsetter**

You are free to use your own contracts once the booking is approved and you have access to the renter's contact information. Contracts provided by Boatsetter supersede any [off-site contracts](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/can-i-have-renters-sign-additional-paperwork-r1ZQ8ko3i) during a Boatsetter booking, should any disputes occur.

## **Offering additional insurance before check-in**

Any form of supplementary insurance, daily damage waiver, deposit scheme, or similar options you offer to renters must be outlined in your listing description. It must be clearly conveyed that those options will be presented to the renter as part of the [check-in process](https://support.boatsetter.com/en_us/check-in-and-check-out-process-HJB7I1o3i) and are coming directly from you, independent of Boatsetter.
